Hmm, if he dies, that should be a good fight between his wife and their child( ren) (oldest is reportedly 10), his older brother (who Kim Jong Il reportedly thought was too much of a wimp to lead), his sister (who is said to be a real monster), and whichever generals think it would be better to try to take power themselves than get purged if they pick the wrong side out of that mess.

I’m not a fan of hearing about Kim Jong Un about to kick the can.
On the one hand, it’s an opportunity for chaos in North Korea that could require an intervention (which could finally break the stalemate ever since the armistice); on the other hand, the risk that they might fire off a nuke is pretty decent.
There are a lot of possible scenarios, but the one I’m hoping for will involve the top generals making a power play for control and oust the Jongs. That’s probably the better angle, unless Kim Jong Chol or the sister takes absolute control, but I’d rather not see either one of them take the reins.

At least Kim has a sister, Kim Yo-jong, and their edited Constitution states succession must be by Kim’s bloodline. So she may be running the show soon.
I’m sure nothing will stop their importing Iranian nuke/missile materials.

The same thing was said a few years ago when he had a cyst on his leg removed - he wasn’t seen for a while, reappeared with a crutch., etc. This could be nothing or it could be something; with NK it’s hard to tell...

It really is amazing. I feel like I’ve been in lockdown for months, but it’s been...5 weeks, I guess, 6 counting the week I was laid up with the flu.
